About your trip

Learn to Balance and Flow with Derrick "DJ" Townsel on a magical adventure in Peru.

In this hustle, we call life - it’s easy to get caught up in our routines or the rat race and find ourselves so busy that we forget the things we love to do and love to spend our time on. We may even forget ourselves.

Throughout the week in Peru, DJ will not only guide you on the mat, but more importantly off the mat, showing how to use the lessons you learn in your practice and applying them to your daily life.  We’ll learn how to build bridges to let go of the things that no longer serve you, find balance in all parts of your life and what that may look like for you, break any barriers that society or you have created for yourself and create boundaries so you can move freely without limitations.

And did we mention we’re taking you to Machu Picchu?? Our favourite part of the retreat is exploring the destination and culture with you. From native Despacho (offerings) ceremonies to local market visits and more hikes, we’re making sure you get to experience all the best parts of Peru!

Meet Your Retreat Leaders

Derrick "DJ" Townsel, a former NFL athlete, is now an Orlando-based personal trainer, health coach, and yoga instructor.

Inspired by amazing individuals on Instagram, Derrick began practicing yoga in 2012. Not entirely comfortable practicing in public at the time, Derrick became a self-taught yogi in the middle of his living room. He followed online sessions and studied the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects and history of yoga. Derrick has now become an inspiration to thousands who didn't think a passion for fitness or yoga could be a possibility for them, mainly men and people of color. Derrick is now a sought-after 200-Hour Certified Yoga Instructor, Acrobatic Yoga Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer, and Level 2 WCO Calisthenics Instructor in Central Florida.

Channeling his West Indian ancestry, always listening to Bob Marley while he practices yoga, and his signature crown of locked hair, Derrick has become known to the yoga community as the "Rasta Yogi".

Keep up with DJ by following him on @dade2shelby and catch him on NBC's Titan Games this January!

Location

In the middle of a natural environment in the Sacred Valley of Peru, surrounded by mountain and ancient culture that today maintain their traditions, grows Samadhi.

Designed with the sacred geometry, Samadhi will submerge you in the universe of the los Chakras, walking through the Kundalini and wrapping you in its spaces, colors, textures, flavors and art adapted for the energy central, to know and explore your essence.

Samadhi's facilities are fully-equipped, and centered on the theme of the 7 chakras: areas dedicated to meditation and art, a multifunction room, a yoga deck with a dazzling view of the sacred valley, an organic garden where you can learn about the qualities of plants that are native to the area, and around the Andes Mountains.

Each of the bungalows have three separate beds with a private bathroom.

If you're booking with a friend or partner, please indicate their name on the booking form so we could arrange it accordingly.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who can attend this retreat?

Our retreats are for everyone! It doesn't matter what your age, gender, race, weight, height, flexibility and level of experience is - the practice of yoga is for every single being.  New to yoga? We all have to start somewhere and retreats are the perfect space to start and/or grow your practice. Don't worry about how advanced others may be and remember this journey is yours, take all the time and be patient with yourself. If you're new, let us know so we can make sure our teachers are prepped to assist you.

2. I've never travelled before and I don't have anyone to go with. Can I come alone?

Yes!! Before you go, we are here to guide you and get you prepared as much as possible for this retreat and travel experience. With us, you're never alone! We set up a group chat to communicate with one week prior to the retreat to check in and update each other as you start your travel from where ever you may be. We'll pair you up with a roommate, who will most likely end up being a lifelong friend.  You may come alone, but you'll end up leaving with a community of like minded people who will forever be connected through this experience.

3. What do I need to pack?

30 days before your retreat, we'll send you a guide of what to pack and bring.

4. What type of travel insurance do I need and why is it mandatory?

Your insurance will need to cover emergency medical and trip cancellation/interruption. This is to protect you in case of any unforeseen circumstances either before or on your retreat.

5. Do you offer monthly payment plans?

Yes! Once you've paid the deposit amount, the remainder of your balance can be split and paid by the remaining months left until the full balance is due.  For example, if the total retreat is $2,300 USD and you pay your deposit in November - starting from December to April (5 months) you will pay a monthly fee of $360 USD. If you would like this option, once you've paid your deposit please email us at info@adzentureretreatsyoga.com to set up a payment plan for you.
